Building a custom home is one of the most significant investments you will make. Understanding the design and approval process from the outset helps avoid costly delays and ensures the final home truly reflects your vision and the potential of your site.
Stage 1: Initial Brief and Site Analysis
Every custom home project begins with a detailed brief. PD Studio meets with clients to understand their lifestyle requirements, budget, aesthetic preferences, and future needs, alongside a thorough site analysis covering orientation, topography, existing vegetation and council overlays.
Stage 2: Concept Design and Planning
Based on the brief and site analysis, we develop concept design options including preliminary floor plans, site plans, and 3D massing studies. Where a planning permit is required, PD Studio prepares a full planning application including shadow diagrams and a planning report.
Stage 3: Working Drawings and Building Permit
Once the design is confirmed, we develop the full set of architectural working drawings.
- Detailed floor plans with all dimensions
- Elevations and sections
- Window, door and finishes schedules
- Construction details and specifications
Stage 4: Construction and Administration
During construction, PD Studio is available for architectural advice, review of builder queries, and site inspections at key stages — protecting your investment and the integrity of the finished home.
